Receipt Hog App Review: Is It A Scam or Easy Cash?

Learn How To Earn Money By Shopping With ReceiptHog!One of my favorite way to use apps is by getting cash back for shopping. Today I have an app called Receipt Hog that will actually give you cash back for your shopping receipts. It doesn’t matter what you buy and they accept receipts from almost any store.

I’ve been using this app and have been paid by Receipt Hog, so I know that it’s not a scam, but today I’d like to see if it’s actually worth using.

In this Receipt Hog App Review I’ll cover how it works, how they pay, the complaints I have, and see if this app is a complete scam!

Receipt Hog App Review

App: Receipt HogReceipt Hog App Review is it a scam

Type: Shopping/Receipt

Score: 3.5/5

In this Receipt Hog App review I gave them a decent score. The app is completely legitimate and will pay you your reward once you cash out, but it’s not an app that’s going to be quick cash over night. To make money with this app you’ll need to take time to upload pictures of your receipts over a few month period.

If you do this you’ll be able to reach the cash out amount and earn $5 via PayPal or Amazon.

Like I said, this won’t be a huge income, but overtime you can make a few bucks with just a few minutes of work everyday.

How Does Receipt Hog Work

What Stores Are Accepted?

The best thing about Receipt Hog is almost any store receipt is accepted. It could be a grocery store, gas station, clothing store, liquor stores, or really any place that gives out itemized receipts.

You can check within the app, but pretty much any store is accepted.

Your receipt will need to have store name, address, date, itemized list, and total purchase price.

Uploading Receipts Process

Once you have a qualifying receipt, it’s time to upload it inside the app. Just click on the upload receipt portion of the app and allow access to your camera. Take a picture of the receipt, make sure that it includes store name, address, date, itemized list, and total purchase price.

For long receipts it’s acceptable to take multiple pictures.

Once you’ve uploaded your receipt, Receipt Hog will review it, approve it, and add coins to your balance based on how much you spent on the purchase.

How Much Do I Earn Per Receipt?

The amount of coins you earn per receipt depends on how much money you spent on the purchase, here’s a breakdown of how many coins you’ll earn based on amount spent.

  • Receipt Hog Review Less than $10 = 5 coins
  • $10-$50 = 10 coins
  • $50-$100 = 15 coins
  • $100+ = 20 coins

Based on the amount you’ll spend you’ll earn 5-20 coins per receipt. There is a 100 point limit per week, meaning after you reach 100 points every additional receipt you upload in that week will earn you 5 coins no matter the amount.

*UK version of the app may pay different coin amounts.

How Does Receipt Hog Pay?

Receipt Hog has two ways to exchange your coins for rewards. The rewards include PayPal and Amazon gift cards starting at $5.

A $5 payment will cost you 1000 coins, but if you wait for higher payouts there’s a coin discount. Here’s a breakdown:

Reciept Hog App Rewards1000 coins = $5

1800 coins = $10

3200 coins = $20

4500 coins = $30

Rewards will be delivered via email within 7 days after cashing out inside the app.

*UK version of the app may have different coin values for cash outs

Weekly Limits

Each week you’ll earn points for the value of each receipt for example, a $10 receipt will earn you 10 coins, until you reach the 100 coin limit for the week.

After you reach the limit of 100 coins earned in a week, you’ll earn 5 coins for every receipt you upload, no matter the amount spent.

I am happy to see that they still pay you coins for receipts after you meet the limit, but I make a lot of purchases in one week and would like to see no weekly limit.

1,000 Coins Needed

To redeem coins for an Amazon or PayPal payment you’ll need 1,000 coins for $5. It’s not too bad, you can realistically reach this amount in a couple months.

But it brings up the questions, is all the work really worth $5. I personally do not use this app very often, but if you have receipts laying around you might as well get a little bit of cash for them.

Is Receipt Hog A Scam?

Receipt Hog is not a scam, it’s a completely legitimate app that’s paid me a few times. I really like that you get paid more coins for larger purchases and that the payments are made quickly via PayPal.

This really isn’t an app that you can download and get paid in a few days, it’s more of a long term earner as you upload receipts over time.

Personally, I do not use the app because I don’t think the work is worth $5, but you might feel different. If you’d like to learn more download the app or visit ReceiptHog.com to get started.

If you do not feel like the Receipt Hog App is worth it, check out the Swagbucks App, I’ve made over $500 with this app already!

Aaaanndddd they dropped me. They are terminating my account because they are losing money! Seriously!!?!? They said they are doing it to a lot of people. I GOT $1. Message is below:

The time has come, sadly, for us to part ways. It’s not you, it’s…us.

What you need to know:
Next Monday, March 27th at 11:59PM Eastern, you will no longer be able to log into the Receipt Hog app. (We’ll help explain why further down in this letter).

If you have 200 coins or more, you WILL be able to cash out via PayPal or Amazon gift card before March 27th at 11:59PM Eastern. You will be able to redeem the exact amount of reward that you have earned, to the nearest dollar that you have earned. (For example, if you’ve earned a coin equivalent to $8.05, you will be paid $8.00, even though you have only reached the $5 cash out tier.)

At this time, your receipts and any answers you may have provided on surveys will no longer be used by Receipt Hog.
Why are we breaking up?
All jokes aside, we are disappointed to have to let you and a number of our Receipt Hoggers go. The Receipt Hog community has grown exponentially in the past couple years (a great thing!), but that has resulted in us no longer being able to afford paying all of our Receipt Hoggers (not a great thing). As you know well, we pay a reward for each and every qualifying receipt that someone uploads. Too many people uploading receipts = danger of no more money.
