Receipt Pal App Review: Is It Another Shopping Scam?
The Receipt Pal App is a shopping app that pays you to upload your shopping receipts from your in store and online shopping trips. I decided to write a review of the Receipt Pal App to see if it’s a scam or a legitimate way to make money with your smart phone.
From what I can see Receipt Pal is completely legitimate, but it’s not going to be a huge income. It requires quite a few points to cash out and uploading receipts takes a long time to earn a lot of points.
In this Receipt Pal App Review, I’ll cover how the app works, how you can get paid, and the complaints I have with this app.
Receipt Pal App Review
App: Receipt Pal
Type: Shopping
Score: 3/5
In this Receipt Pal app review I gave them an okay score, mainly because the app limits your earnings with weekly limits. Receipt Pal is not a scam, when you reach the cash out amount you’ll be paid. It’s just going to take a while to reach the minimum cash out amount.
Overall Receipt Pal is an easy and unique way to make some extra cash with your smartphone, but it’s not going to fill your pockets with cash, by any means.
How Does The Receipt Pal App Work?
Find Receipts You’ve Had From Past Shopping Trips
With Receipt Pal almost any receipt works, it can be from a grocery store, convenience store, restaurant, clothing store, electronic store, car dealership, and even online purchases are fine. Receipts must include merchant name, date, total amount spent, items purchases, and merchant phone number.
The only other requirement is that the receipt is less then 30 days old. Once you’ve found some eligible receipts open the app to start taking photos.
Take Pictures Of Receipts Inside The App
Once you’ve found some qualifying receipts you can easily take pictures of the receipts inside the app. Just make sure to take a clear picture of the whole receipt. If it’s a long receipt you can take multiple pictures.
For online purchases you can forward the receipt to the email provided inside the app!
Upload 4 Receipts For 100 Reward Points
Every 4 receipts that you upload earns you 100 points. You’ll be able to upload 300 points worth of receipts each week. All of your receipts will be reviewed before you can cash out. Once you use the app for a few weeks you can redeem points for rewards!
Exchange Points For Rewards
Receipt Pal has gift cards to Amazon and a few other stores, most stores start at $5 gift cards, but Amazon has a $1 and $3 option!
What Receipts Earn You Cash?
Probably the best part about Receipt Pal is that you can use almost any type of receipt and it does not matter how much you spent. For example you could turn in your gas receipt, receipt from buying groceries, receipt from your last oil change, or almost anything else you can think of.
I’ve covered the requirements of the receipts already, but just to clarify it needs to be a picture or pictures of the full itemized receipt, and it must be less than 30 days old.
Receipt Pal App Rewards
Once you’ve earned some points it’s time to exchange the points for rewards. Receipt Pal has a few different options for payments including charity donation, Amazon, Best Buy, CVS, GameStop, Panera, Starbucks, Walmart, iTunes, and Restaurant.com
Most gift cards start at $5, but Amazon and Charity Donation start at $1, or 400 points. It says that payments are processed immediately so you should expect the gift card code in your email within a few minutes of cashing out!
Receipt Pal App Complaints
Weekly Receipt Limits
When you first join Receipt Pal, you’ll be able to upload 20 receipts for cash the first week. That will earn you a total of 500 points for your first week. But each week after, you’re limited to 12 receipts or 300 points.
It sucks that there’s weekly limits because it limits your earnings. Most likely you’ll have more then 12 receipts each week that you can use, so Receipt Pal does control your earnings.
This wouldn’t be a huge deal, but the $5 rewards cost 2,000 points. Meaning you’ll have to use the app for at least 7 weeks to earn $5 and gain access to most of the reward options.
Lot of Points To Earn $5
Receipt Pal does have a $1 Amazon gift card available, but to get any of the other store gift cards you’ll have to wait until the $5 mark.
$5 gift cards are 2,000 points each, so it can take awhile and a total of 80 receipts just to earn $5.
With that being said, uploading receipts doesn’t take much time, but it’s not going to be a very big income.
Is The Receipt Pal App A Scam?
The Receipt Pal App is not a scam, it’s completely legitimate and there’s proof of payment. The only real concern I have with this app is it’s going to take a while to reach the $5 gift card payment. Since Receipt Pal limits how many points you can earn each week, it’s going to be a long term app to make a few extra bucks.
I personally prefer apps like Ibotta, but Receipt Pal is a way to make some extra cash for your receipts.

I personally do not use this app and it’s not an app I really highly recommend, but here’s some apps I do highly recommend.
